| Cwyrtai Almira and Shirley bounding through a water complex!.....Who said Arabs are only good for lo |
We started breeding in the early eighties, mainly part bred Arabs and hunters.
The beginnings !
Our foundation mare was a 14.1hh Palomino part bred Arab Cwyrtai Almira by the good little stallion Dennybeck Dany out
of Cwyrtai Aloma.
This little mare although small in stature, was enormous of HEART. She was as game as a national hunt racer over cross
country when partnered by Shirley, never had a stop and loved a water complex... where quite often the local gentry and their
17.2hh would be teetering at the edge of the water.
The first foal was a surprise! She was bought from a local sale and after a few months settling in she produced a beautiful
Palomino colt (aptly named Bonus...as he most certainly was) , with a little investigating he was found to be by the Pure
Arab Salamanca who was standing at Mr. and Mrs. Evans Cwyrtai stud Anglesey. Salamanca was by Bright shadow and out of Argenta
Bonus was un-shown in-hand and was kept on the back burner while Ally was gotten back into shape and resumed her cross
country and jumping for the next 4 yrs. As Bonus approached his 4th yr he was broken-in and as he was to be the successor
to his mother in the ridden stakes it was not a hard decision to put her back in foal to Salamanca.
The outcome was Roscoe a chestnut colt who did extremely well in-hand but his showing career was cut short due to a nasty
accident sustained in the field.
The next mating was to a very well bred thorough bred stallion Arkan by Prince Tenderfoot he was a HIS stallion and the
resulting foal was a chestnut filly Matilda.
She in turn was to take over from her mother as the matron of Royalview!
